Abstract : The dynamical behaviors of three oscillators (the classical linear oscillator, the Van der Pol oscillator and the Grudzinsky-Zebrowsky oscillator) subjected to periodic pulse excitation, assumed to come from blood pressure, are studied theoretically and experimentally using microcontrollers. The pulsatile electrical signal is generated by a microcontroller. For some selected frequencies, it is found that the models exhibit responses having the same shape as those of the pulsatile blood pressure. This suggests the possibility of using such a conversion and excitation mechanism to replicate the functioning of artificial pacemakers.
